CHAKRAS are substantive structures within the energy field which connect and transmute energies from one frequency to another.Click on the chakra points in the diagram to learn more about you and your chakras.
Richard Gerber (author of Vibrational Medicine, Bear & Company) says: "From a physiologic (functional) standpoint, the chakras appear to be involved with the the flow of higher energies via specific subtle energetic channels into the cellular structure of the physical body. At one level they seem to function as energy transformers, stepping down energy of one form and frequency to a lower level. This energy is, in turn, translated into hormonal, physiologic, and ultimately cellular changes throughout the body. There appear to be at least seven major chakras associated with the physical body."
Chakras have been well known in eastern sacred traditions for thousands of years; more recently they have come to the attention of western consciousness. However, even in the west there have been those reaching beyond cultural limitations as exemplified by these comments of C.W. Leadbeater in a book he published in 1927. "The special use of the word chakra with which we are at the moment concerned is its application to a series of wheel-like vortices which exist in the surface of the etheric double of man. The chakras or force-centers are points of connection at which energy flows from one vehicle or body of a man to another. Anyone who possesses a slight degree of clairvoyance may easily see them as saucer-like depressions or vortices in its surface."
Or, as medical intuitive Carolyn Myss writes in 1997, (WHY PEOPLE DON'T HEAL AND HOW THEY CAN), The chakras are the areas of interconnection between body and spirit that, when purified or opened up through the advanced practices of yoga, lead the adept to enlightenment - although in certain people, for reasons that are not entirely clear, the chakras may sometimes open spontaneously.
"Chakras are often pictured as lotus blossoms or spinning wheels (in Sanskrit, chakra means "wheel" or "circle"), and each subtle chakra roughly corresponds to a location in the physical body. (A similar system, with different terminologies, is employed by some schools of Taoism in China.) For those in the West who are unfamiliar with Eastern terminology and metaphysics, it may be simpler to think of the chakras as computer disks that are imprinted with information of all sorts. Much like the hard disk in your computer, the chakras spin and take in data and also can be tapped to disgorge that same information. Each energy data bank resonates to a very specific vibration of energy needed by your physical and spiritual body."
Each chakra is unique, carrying its own vibratory frequency and position in the body. The chakras interrelate with the each other functionally, often providing complex psychological implications.
As well as the structures and organs in a chakra's regional location, here are a few basic factors that emerge when working with the seven major chakras of the body:
NOTE: The seven chakras relate closely to the positions of the major nerve plexes and endocrine (hormone producing) glands.
