Dear ______ ,

You were on my mind the other evening, as was my own mortality, when the following metaphor came to mind.

A caterpillar is in its prime, feeling full and satisfied. Then for no reason seemingly, senses a strangeness. Normal enthusiasm and energy slows down; passion for food wanes to the point where "Why eat at all !" Everything round about is the same as always but the familiar begins to be seen in a different way.

Caterpillar has no idea what is inherent in its system - its multi-frequency energy field or its physically. There's a clock, ticking in a realm beyond awareness exerting a profound influence. Instead of "Eat and grow.", it's "Let's clean up affairs!", and an unknown substance is spun out of its cylindrical body which it weaves into a cone-shaped cocoon eventually encompassing itself in a tomb - a chrysalis.

Within the enclosed sanctuary the body dissolves, piece by piece, a form of decomposition. Concurrently these cells begin to reform an embryo which will eventually emerge from the cocoon as a tender butterfly. While this beautiful winged creature seems to bear no resemblance to the wriggling predecessor from which it emerged, there is obviously a continuity between the two diverse creatures, whether or not each is ever aware of the other.

Life's purpose emerges, stage by stage, from within the larger mystical field -- the greater plan. As a person, I imagine - believe - trust, perhaps blindly, that the next phase, called "after life" will be just right, perhaps more beautiful and freeing than the "now life" which I know in this earthly dimension. The magical process continues...

You are doing such a fine job, dear friend! And everything is right on time!
